Last week Trevor and I went to Mexico for a quick little getaway! It was so nice to get out of the cold, decompress & have some fun. We had the BEST time! I had a lot of questions about our trip so I wanted to do a full roundup with the details of our trip & links to my outfits!
We flew out Sunday morning from Baltimore because there weren't any morning direct flights from Philly, thankful for Amy for volunteering to drive us there! It wasn't required to get a negative Covid test before entering Mexico, but we knew we had to get one to return to the US. We decided to get them before we left anyway to minimize the chances of leaving with Covid, and therefore not being able to come home on time.
We flew into the Cancun airport and had a transfer scheduled with our resort, so we didn't have to worry about taking a random taxi or shuttle. Our resort was about an hour and 20 minutes from the airport in Riviera Maya, just north of Tulum.
We stayed at Secrets Akumal and it was absolutely stunning! It's an adults only all inclusive so we took full advantage and ate all the food & drank basically every drink. Our go to all week was vodka club with a splash of grapefruit! We brought some extra cash to tip the bartenders & servers, usually once in the morning and once in the afternoon.
The staff was so friendly, and seemed genuinely happy to be working there and serving us. I would say this was probably one of the best parts of the experience & truly made the resort what it was! Since we were there over Halloween and Day of the Dead, there were a couple special events & shows going on so we checked both of those out. I think there were 5 or 6 different restaurants and because of the events we only checked out 2, but everywhere we ate the food was awesome!!
The beach & the pool were warm & clean and we usually split our days half at the beach, half at the pool, mostly at the pool bar 😂 It was fun to hang out there and meet other couples and just sit in the water and relax.
